Drug Abuse and Trafficking: A Catastrophe for a Generation
🇮🇳 Parents in Kerala are being murdered due to the deadly drug trade:
💥 Kerala, once a land of cultural pride and peaceful living, is now facing a significant crisis due to rampant drug abuse. The spread of narcotics, especially substances like MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy), is tearing apart the very fabric of our society.
📢 The Impact of Drug Abuse and Trafficking:
💥 Young individuals addicted to drugs have been reported to commit heinous crimes such as attacking, stabbing, and even killing their parents. Such incidents, frequently heard across Kerala, leave deep scars on families and society as a whole.
💥 Addicts often resort to fraud, theft, and even murder to obtain money for drugs.
💥 Drug use severely damages both physical and mental health, leading to various diseases and even untimely deaths, particularly among the youth.
💥 When the energy and creativity of the younger generation are lost, the repercussions are bound to affect the economy and social progress.
📢 Complicity, Whether Intentional or Unintentional:
💥 There are suspicions that certain officials and political leaders are aiding drug trafficking. It is also suspected that wholesale quantities of drugs are being transported from states like Bangalore to Kerala with the knowledge of a few high-ranking officials. Without encountering significant hurdles, drug cartels seem to execute their plans with precision, even using vehicles associated with officials and politicians.
💥 By leveraging government systems such as the excise and police departments, Kerala can combat the drug mafia effectively. However, the current approach only targets small-time users and youth, without addressing the larger supply chain. This failure to identify and act against the root cause is a significant concern.
💥 If all vehicles entering Kerala are thoroughly inspected for a week, the drug market and its usage can be significantly curtailed.
💥 Along with such measures, other strategies must also be adopted to combat the drug menace in Kerala.
📢 Steps Towards Eradication:
💥 Awareness campaigns in schools and colleges about the harmful effects of drugs should be intensified. Simultaneously, strict action against drug trafficking must be ensured through collaborative efforts between the government and police forces.
💥 Strong laws must be implemented in the Kerala Legislative Assembly to prevent the production and distribution of drugs. These laws should be enforced impartially, without bias toward bureaucracy, politics, caste, or religion.
💥 Families should be equipped with mechanisms to identify and prevent early stages of substance abuse among their children.
💥 Human rights organizations, cultural associations, youth groups, student unions, and religious organizations in Kerala must take a proactive role in safeguarding the future of the youth. They should work towards eradicating drug abuse and putting an end to the shocking incidents of parents being murdered due to addiction.
💥 Awareness campaigns against drug use must be conducted within families, among friends, and across communities. Protests and strong actions against traffickers are essential.
💥 This is the time for society and the government to unite and work together to overcome this crisis. The only way forward is to aim for a drug-free Kerala. Let us protect the next generation by joining hands in this mission.
Let this journey not be in vain. Let us move forward with the determination to defeat the drug menace.
